Volunteer Disaster Response Communications
The shrewd one sees the danger
The concept for this organization is to have communication available when the primary forms of communication are not working, cell-towers, land-lines, the internet.
Teaming up with several radio operators around the US it was determined that commercial wireless communication (such as is used by police and fire departments) was a reasonable solution.
A FCC Part 90 license is used for this system. DMR radios that are limited to the frequencies assigned to the license by the FCC are distributed as necessary. In addition we have setup Mesh radio networks that provide encrypted text messaging during relief activites.
